City Council Meeting Monday, May 20

The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center will host the Albuquerque City Council Meeting, Monday, May 20 from 5-10:30 p.m.

The council will address the very busy meeting agenda and allow public comment. However, any public comments will have to be approved by the Council Staff by 5:30 p.m. All comments are limited to two minutes or less.

City Council meetings are open to the public.

The meetings may also be viewed online via GOT TV live streaming video or the Legislative Information Portal (Legistar).

The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center is located at 1 Civic Plaza NW, Basement Level, Vincent E.

Committee of the Whole Meeting is open to the public Thursday, May 16

The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center will host Committee of the Whole Meeting Thursday, May 16 from 5-10:30 p.m.

All City Council meetings are open to the public and public involvement is considered for select meetings. This particular meeting is not accepting public comments, but is open for locals to attend. The agenda will address appropriating funds for Fiscal Year 2014 and adjusting appropriations for Fiscal Year 2013. Those will be some of the main issues they go over, plus some other related content.

MRCOG seeks intern for May 2013

The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG)  is seeking an intern to start May 2013. The intern should be motivated and detail oriented. Tasks include combining data and research as well as working directly with transportation planning staff. The intern will leave the internship with real-world experience in regional planning as well as data analysis and acquisition.

Interns will be able to receive class credit for their time with the MRCOG. The intern will be paid $10.00 per hour and will work 10-15 hours a week through Spring 2014.

Two ABQ Meetings on April 10 are open to the public

The Council Conference Room on the 9th Floor of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center will host two important monthly meetings Wednesday, April 10.

The first meeting will be the Internal Operations Committee from 4:30-5 p.m. The meeting will go over two funding requests and will not be open for public comment.

The second meeting will be the Land Use, Planning & Zoning Committee from 5-10:30 p.m. The meeting will address the Environmental Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and an area of approximately 569.1 acres for possible and current development.

MRCOG looks for independent public accountant


The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) will conduct three financial audits and is looking for an independent public accountant. The accountant would conduct the three audits which include: 1) Mid-Region Council of Governments; 2) Rio Metro Regional Transit District; and 3) Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico.

MRCOG is accepting RFP’s for the position. The deadline to submit is Apr. 15, 5 p.m. The RFP and Contract may be downloaded here,http://mrcog-nm.gov/images/stories/pdf/RFP/Audit_RFP_2013-04.pdf.

IRS app gets update, goes bilingual

IRS app gets update, goes bilingual

An IRS smartphone app which helps users with tax questions is now available in Spanish.

The app, IRS2Go, allows users to check on the status of their refunds, get tips on how to file their taxes more efficiently and get the latest news from the IRS. Other features are as follows:

  * Get My Tax Record. Taxpayers can now order their tax account or tax return transcript from a mobile device. The transcript will be delivered via U.S. Postal Service to their address of record.
