$1,000 Tax credit for businesses who hire Veterans

According to an article released by the Associated Press, Governor Susana Martinez is in support of a bill approved by the House which will provide a $1,000 tax break for businesses that hire veterans who have been discharged from the military for the past two years.

The tax credit will cost the state nearly $1.7 million in reduced tax revenues as estimated by the Taxation and Revenue Department.

This type of tax break offered by the federal government is a great way to encourage businesses to hire unemployed veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The bill will be sent to the Senate for consideration.
