Twisters raising money for Haven House, Feb. 19

Twisters on Southern and Nicklaus will host an all day fundraiser event, raising money for Haven House, Tuesday Feb. 19.

Twisters has agreed to donate 20% of proceeds to Haven House all day on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Haven House is a Domestic Violence agency serving the battered women of Valencia County. As women leave their abuser, they go to Haven House to provide shelter and food to their children and themselves. Twisters will donate much needed money for the families of Haven House to acquire needed items.

Coupon needs to be presented for Haven House to receive the donations (print coupon at havenhouseinc.org).

Twisters is located at 2435 Southern Blvd, Rio Rancho.

Café Bella Coffee will host their first night of their monthly Jazz Series Friday, Dec. 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Live jazz music will be performed by a trio and local artists. There will be no cover charge for the event.

Since 2008 Marble Brewery has crafted a number of ales and lagers and recently has expanded to Albuquerque’s Westside with a new taproom.

The new location at 5740 Night Whisper NW in Unser Plaza brought in its first customers last month, offering a selection of 12 Marble brews on tap.

The votes are in and according to the Rand McNally/USA Today Best of the Road Rally, Santa Fe is the small city with the best food in the country.

Ironwood Kitchen now open

According to the Albuquerque Journal, Ironwood Kitchen, a casual restaurant located in the Unser corridor near the new Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, has recently opened.

Ironwood Kitchen offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu includes omelets, hamburgers, burritos, tacos hot pastrami sandwiches, turkey quesadillas and enchiladas. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30a.m. to 7:30p.m.

This section of Unser between McMahon in Albuquerque and Southern in Rio Rancho has had several restaurants open in the past few months, including an IHOP, Five Guys and Sushi King.

Popejoy Hall presents new fundraising initiative

Popejoy Hall presents new fundraising initiative

Popejoy Hall is in its 45th season and is featuring a new fundraising initiative called Dine Out for Popejoy.  On Thursday, October 27, Popejoy patrons are encouraged to dine at participating restaurants. The restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to Popejoy Hall. 

A total of 23 restaurants have agreed to participate so far.  Supporters have the option of dining in Popejoy’s neighborhood, downtown, Old Town, the far NE Heights, the West Side, Rio Rancho, and Bernalillo.
