Singers get the honor of performing at State Fair

This week, six singers were handpicked from 46 to form the lineup for the “Star-Spangled-Banner” at the 2011 New Mexico state Fair. A new singer will perform the song each day of the event.

EXPO event coordinators say that they had to limit the number of auditions this year because of the large turnout. The competition was so popular  that thirteen people were on the audition waiting list and four walk-ins traveled all the way from Colorado to belt out the anthem.

All singers chosen to perform however are New Mexico bred. Below is a list of the winners and the dates they will sing at the New Mexico State Fair,

September 15 – Easton Corbin              April Zamora, Albuquerque

September 16 – Craig Morgan               Hannah Weeks, Rio Rancho
